Teaching and Learning with Technology: Schools expand lessons ...

This morning I read an article by Christina Hoag from the Associated Press about children going bananas over math lessons on the computer. ?Kids are eager to arrive early, and stay after school so they can practice math on the computer.? ?Today?s children are embracing computer lessons in math and other science subjects with ease. Using computers to obtain lessons is called blended learning, and it is the new paradigm in schools across the country. I give a standing ovation to every school principal for being brave and exploring the blended learning avenue. ?The impact of exposing children of all ages to blended learning is profound. ?Ten to fifteen years ago, the idea of using computers on a daily basis in the classroom was so farfetched from reality that it hardly crossed teachers mind. Oddly enough, computers have been around for quite some time, and at first, many educators embraced the new medium with much skepticism, but warmed up to the idea using a computer to produce learning materials to be used in the classroom. ?Computer using educators and computer using children both confer and predict future popularity in the realms of delivering education and knowledge to engage every child, embracing digital learning opportunities as soon as they arrive.

Combining online education and classroom lessons appears to be poised for a future of a well-rounded student population. ?
